CREATIVE CONCEPTING / F1 Miami

Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix

The Project
This past winter, I was asked by the Miami Grand Prix to create some conceptually designs to assist in there creative direction for their inaugural 2022 grand prix. My work was used to help mood board and visualize the graphical look for their social media pages and presence.

The Concepts
I was asked to create mood boards with explorations within their design style. Throughout my entire process, four total boards and branding styles were created, each with their own takes on Miami, its culture, look, and feel. While none of my four concepts were ever materialized, the looks and concepts created still helped the in-house designers to lay down what came out be a fantastic final look for the Miami Grand Prix's social presence.

The Vision
An element of flatness, art-deco style, was mentioned in my brief for this concept. While that becomes more true throughout the project, I somewhat stayed away in my first concept. I utilized threshold adjustments to create a flat, but gritty look to the designs, all while trying to capture that "tropical" feel of Miami, both through the colors and assets used.

The Vision
I went onto the other end of the design spectrum with the second set of designs. Instead of a complex look, I decided to go in the direction of flow and calmness. This unique style helps convey that feeling, while also being visually interesting. Less designs were created for the one, as it was meant to get a basic look down, with the possibility of further development.

The Vision
Concept three took on, once again, a very different approach compared to the previous two. I leaned more into the art deco idea in this batch of graphics, and it gave them a style of sleek simplicity. I'll admit, I did not translate the style well onto the informative graphics, making this concept (in my opinion) the weakest of the four presented. I also foolishly kept the photo treatment style of the second concept, which clashed heavily with the design style. However, the more art-focused designed were some of my favorites, and were believed to be strong pieces of design.

The Vision
Overall, this one was top two of my concepts. I felt this final look brought together aspects of all the designs, with primary focus on the simple, art deco style that was originally presented. I focused more on the random graphics that a social team posts, including quotes, photos, birthdays, and more.

THANK YOU / F1 Miami

Special Thanks to Aryel Rivero, Brandon Moore and countless others for hiring, referring, and helping me with this project. This was my first large scale freelance gig, and I am super grateful for the opportunity to work with a brand as large as Formula 1. With the Miami Grand Prix now finished, it was awesome to see all the social media efforts in making this past weekend one to remember; for not only myself, but for all the other motorsports fans who got to enjoy it. Despite my work only being used in the preproduction phase, with nothing making the final cut, it was still an awesome feeling to know that I had a small part in the production of such an event.

As always thank you, and let's keep creating!
